The Anambra State Police Command in South East Nigeria has arrested a 43-year-old man, Patrick Ojele for allegedly disguising himself as mentally unstable while operating a secret cannabis farm in the state capital, authorities confirmed in a statement released on September 18.

Police spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga detailed that operatives from the Operations Department in Awka detained Ojele during a routine patrol along the Awka-Enugu Expressway near Ngozika Estate. The suspect, who feigned mental instability, later guided officers to the concealed farm where substantial quantities of suspected cannabis sativa were seized.

Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu described the arrest as part of a broader strategy to disrupt criminal supply chains, particularly targeting drug dealers who fuel cultism and violence. He directed that Ojele be transferred to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad in Enugwu-Ukwu for further investigation to identify buyers and dismantle the distribution network.
